James John Schweitzer of Formerly Industry and Brighton Twp.
11/11/1941 - 07/10/2010James John Schweitzer, 68, formerly of Industry and Brighton Township, passed away early Saturday morning, July 10, 2010, following an extended illness surrounded by his family.
Born November 11, 1941, in McKeesport, PA, he was a son of the late Carl N. and Rose (McGinty) Schweitzer. A member of SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver, he had been a former volunteer with the Brighton Township Volunteer Fire Department. He worked at Westinghouse Electric Corp., in Vanport for 17 years. Thereafter, he was self-employed for a number of years and then worked as the manager of Rolling Acres Golf Course, where he ended his career as he started iton the golf course. His life long passion was golf, which he developed at the age of 14 when he served as a caddy at the Beaver Valley Country Club. He continued to excel at the sport and captured numerous tournament championships and titles throughout his career. He also had formerly belonged to the Westinghouse Midnighter's Bowling league.
Surviving is his former wife, Susan (Reed) Schweitzer, Beaver; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Terry Munroe, Brighton Township; a son, Scott Schweitzer and Kathy Moore, Bridgewater; a sister, Mary Jane (David) Suehr, Montour; 3 grandchildren, Michael Schweitzer, Bridgewater, Stacey and Sara Munroe, Brighton Township, 10 nieces, 4 nephews, and their families.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was a brother, Carl Thomas Schweitzer, in 2007.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC., 333 Third St., Beaver, where a blessing service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. by Deacon Joseph Wirag.
