H. Hazen Wilson, Jr. of BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP
11/2/1920 - 07/14/2010H. Hazen Wilson, Jr., 89, of Brighton Township, passed away Wednesday morning, July 14, 2010, at Friendship Ridge, with his family at his side.
Born November 2, 1920, in Beaver, he was a son of the late H. Hazen, Sr. and Alice Shuman Wilson and had been a resident of Beaver and Brighton Township all of his life. Hazen was a retired funeral director having owned the former H. Hazen Wilson, Jr. Funeral Home in Beaver and had also served for thirty years as the tax collector in Beaver. He had served with the U.S. Navy's South Pacific Fleet Marine Force during World War II. A faithful member of the Vanport Presbyterian Church, he was active in the community including being a member of the American Legion Post #19, New Brighton, as a Mason he belonged to the St. James Lodge #457 F & AM, Beaver, the Scottish Rite of New Castle, and the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, was a member of the IOOF, Freedom, the Knights of Pythias #265 where he had served as past commander, was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Anthony Wayne Chapter, and had belonged to the Beaver Men's Club. He was a past chairman of the former Reeves Bank, Beaver Falls, and had served as a past president of the Beaver-Lawrence County Funeral Directors Association as well as being a member of both the Pennsylvania and National Funeral Directors Associations.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Dorothy Mae Pierson Wilson; a son, H. Hazen Wilson III and his wife, Connie of Berryville, VA; a daughter, Nancy and her husband, John A. Falcone, Port St. Lucie, FL; two stepsons, Charles III and his wife Claudette Ranshaw, New Brighton, and Richard E. Ranshaw, Youngstown, OH; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. J. Dean and Aggie Wilson, Hagerstown, MD; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, besides his parents, was a sister, Christine Hersley.
Friends will be received Friday, July 16, 2010, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC., 333 Third St., Beaver. A service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Park Presbyterian Church, Beaver. The service will be conducted by his pastor, the Reverend David D. Byers. Interment will follow at the Beaver Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
