Dad, I miss you so much. I know I'm always trying to be the strong one but now I feel weak. Each evening I find myself wanting to take that short walk from our place over to yours for our regular visit. I want to hear you say just like always, "Hey Bud, let's make a pot of coffee" and I want to sit at the kitchen table together sipping coffee and talking like we did so many, many times. I can't say this caught me by surprise. It's the reason I've stayed so close to you. We both knew it would come eventually. We talked about it. We tried to prepare, tried to be strong men. So why do I feel like such a little boy now? You gave me the best you had in so many ways, Dad. So much about life I learned from you. And in many, many ways I am just like you. That's the thing I'm holding on to now. So often I catch myself saying something or doing something and realize that it's just exactly what you would say or do. In that way you'll always be with me and that's a true gift from God. I feel blessed to have spend the last twelve years so close to you and Mom. I know it was the right thing to do. And it turned out to be such a great blessing. Thank you, Dad, for all the great things you did for me. Time you spent with me molding me into the kind of man I am. Thank you for teaching me to love life, love God, love my family, and love my country. Thank you for teaching me to be honest, loyal, trustworthy, and to care about others more than myself. Thank you for teaching me to treat my wife with the tenderness she needs and deserves. Thank you for helping me look at life with a sense of humor and to be a positive thinker. Thank you for teaching me not to be afraid to try new things and for telling me I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. Thank you, Dad, for being my Dad. Say hello to Mom for me and tell her I love her too. Until we meet again, Bud
