Roy E. Harden of Brighton Twp

Roy E. Harden, 84, of Brighton Twp., passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Born June 4, 1927 in Washington, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph and Wilma Harden and had been a resident of Brighton Twp since 1954. A US Navy veteran, he had served during World War II and was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, Beaver. Roy had worked for the Beaver County Times from 1954 to 1957 then became the owner/operator of the Beaver Valley Labor News until his retirement in 1989. He was an active member of his community having served numerous positions including as a Brighton Twp. Supervisor for multiple terms, a 17-year member of the Brighton Twp. Zoning Board, a member of the Advisory Board of the former Beaver Trust Company, an active member and former president of the Beaver Area Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Beaver Valley Kiwanis Club. He had also been a member of the F&AM, St. James Lodge, Beaver and the New Brighton American Legion. He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of 62 years, Jessie Burch Harden; three children and their spouses, Becky and Larry Binkoski, Laurel, DE, Ty and Vicki Harden, Brighton Twp., Melissa and Eugene Miley, Beaver; four grandchildren, Cory (Marion) Binkoski, Joe (Leaha) Harden, LeAnne Harden, Patrick Miley, and four great-grandchildren, Casey and Chris Binkoski, Ava Harden and Eliot Harden. Preceding him in death besides his parents were two brothers, Jack and Don Harden. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC., 333 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11a.m. at the Park Presbyterian Church by his Pastor, Reverend Mark A. Boyd. Interment will follow at the Beaver Cemetery.
