Alna J. Adams

Alna J. Adams, 86, of Midland, passed away early Monday morning, April 1, 2019, at UPMC Mercy, Pittsburgh.

Born July 31, 1932 in Avella, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Pierina Vergellesi Ferrari.  Alna graduated from Avella High School where she was a member of the 1950 State Championship Girls Basketball Team.  She worked for 41 years as a nurse’s aide at the former Geriatric Center and Friendship Ridge in Brighton Twp.  She had a fulfilling career, as she loved taking care of her patients and working alongside her co-workers.  A wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Alna was a die-hard Pittsburgh Sports and professional wrestling fan, and in her spare time, could be found participating in many Midland organizations, including the Jr. Women’s Club, Prom Mothers, Lioness Club, and Band Boosters.

In addition to her parents, Alna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Nicholas Adams in 2016; and her infant daughter, Julia Adams; and a son-in-law Mark Edwin Heckel

She will be greatly missed by her son, Randal J. Adams; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Walter Dorn; grandchildren, James and Tabbatha Heckel, Dustyn Dorn and his fiancé Jenal, Brittnee and Nicholas Schuck, and Bethany and Lovelle Haynes; great-grandchildren, Lyriq and Leroy Williams, and Jayda and Micah Haynes; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

As per Alna’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.  She will be laid to rest with her husband John at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, at a later date.   Professional services have been entrusted to the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver.  Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
