Arby Colista

Arby Colista, 95, of Ellwood City, formerly of Ambridge and Beaver, Pennsylvania passed away, June 22, 2023 after a long life.

Born February 21, 1928 in Ambridge, PA. She was the daughter of the late Zaharias and Chyrsoula Karagianis. Arby was waitress and a caregiver though out the years and was Greek Orthodox and Catholic by faith. She was known for her quick, irreverent, wit and her boundless energy. In her 80th year, she took a trip to Greece and met family. She walked the hill to the Acropolis in Athens. She refused to take a cab because only old people don’t walk she love to read, and was educated and firm in her political views. She stood in line in the cold with her walker to vote in the 2020 election. She loved her country. She was an excellent cook and taught herself gourmet skills. Most of all she loved her family, her children, her grand children, and her great grand children. She loved, and was loved.

Arby will be greatly missed by her son, Frank (Sonya) Colista and her daughter, Goldie (Len) Weaver; sister, Freda Stavros; grandchildren, Sarah (Sean) Moore, Jacob Weaver, Kelly (Cory) Waugaman, Kaitlyn (Barry) Anderson, Hauna (Taylor) Colista, Dalton (Allysha) Colista; along with great-grandchildren, Zoe, Alex, Nora, Anna, Ethan, Juliette, Simon, Vienna, Bennett, Carson and Norah

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Dominic Colista; sister, Mary Zabetakis; brother, John Karagianis and a nephew George Zabetakis
