Arthur I. Dougherty, 86, of Brighton Township passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in Lakeview Personal Care Home, Darlington, with his family by his side.
Born July 8, 1929 in West Bridgewater, he was a son of the late John P. Dougherty, Sr. and Mary Reese Dougherty. Arthur graduated from Rochester High School and Geneva College. He retired from Hadeed Steel Company, Saudi Arabia, and was a past president of the Beaver Valley Flying Club, Fort McIntosh Lions Club, and the Beaver County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. He attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Beaver and served proudly in both the U. S. Army and Air Force during WWII, and the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Arthur is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Miriam A. Flinner Dougherty, two sons and their wives, Dr. Bruce (Michelle) Dougherty, CT, and Timothy (Denise) Dougherty, Pittsburgh, one daughter and her husband, Jeannine (Philip) Biehls, NY, five grandchildren, Allison (Chris) Ruiz, NY, Patty (Blair) Schulman, and Brian Dougherty, all of CT, Marcella Dougherty, Philadelphia, Alexandria Dougherty, Erie, and Courtney Biehls, NY, along with two great-grandchildren, Camden and Avery Ruiz, NY.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and David Dougherty, and three sisters, Margaret Wallace, and Delores and Mary Jane Dougherty.
Friends will be received Friday, April 15, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A service, conducted by his pastor, Reverend Roland Gray, will take place Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10:30 am at the funeral home where full military rites by the Beaver County Special Unit will follow. Interment will occur at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Arthur’s name to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 490 College Avenue, Beaver, PA 15009.
