Barbara Summers Bakken

Barbara Summers Bakken, 87, of Beaver, passed away peacefully in her sleep with both of her daughters by her side, Thursday, November 23, 2023. Born January 14, 1936 in Williamson, WV, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Viola Summers. Barbara will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active participant with the Beaver Area Memorial Library, Beaver Book and Play, Beaver Women’s Club, and Beaver Tourist Club. Barbara was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Beaver. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63-years, A. Christopher Bakken, Jr. in 2021. She will be greatly missed by her son, A. Christopher (Katie) Bakken III; daughters, Sandra (Joseph) Bakken Caruso and Ellen (Keith) Bakken Colonna; sisters, Ann Summers Schwabland and Kay Summers Packard; grandchildren, A. Christopher (Sara) Bakken, IV, Alexander C. Bakken, Stephanie B. (Brad) Borghetti, Courtney S. (Wil) Henigman, Joseph A. (Sawyer) Caruso III, Keith A. (Caitlinn) Colonna, Jr., and Rachel C. (Edward) Ord; along with great-grandchildren, Charlotte G. and Camryn R. Borghetti, Harrison W. and Quinn S. Henigman, and Ana L. Bakken. Friends will be received Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 2 p.m. until time of service at 5 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. She will be laid to rest next to Chris at Freeport Cemetery, Freeport.
