Barbara J. Haslett

June 11, 1931 — May 11, 2021

Barbara Jean Haslett, 89, formerly of Beaver, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Asbury Heights, Pittsburgh, one month shy of her 90th birthday.

Born June 11, 1931 in Wilkinsburg, she was a daughter of the late William Edgar and Dorothy May Rowell Walker. A 1949 graduate of Monaca High School, she was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Valley, Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver. Barbara was the center of a large extended family and of regular get-togethers, for which the photos go back over 60 years. Her home was where generations came to visit, sometimes to stay, and always to eat. She made them all feel safe and comfortable, and there would always be conversation over a cup of tea, and often, a slice of cake from yesterday evening.

Barbara was a big fan of college basketball and never missed a second of March Madness. She was also an avid reader, and she was never seen without a book in her hand and two or three more on the table beside her, often reading more than one book at a time. Over the years, she volunteered at the Saints Peter and Paul School library, and later, at the library at Asbury Heights. She made many friends at Asbury Heights and enjoyed playing scrabble and cards and staying up to date with the news of the world and of everyone’s lives.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Haslett, Sr.; son, Mark W. Haslett; and grandson, Jeffery Haslett.

She is survived by her son, William F. (Bennie) Haslett, Jr., Seal Beach, CA; three daughters, Dorothy Haslett, Beaver, Anne (Hans) Muller, Saratoga, CA, and Jeanne (Greg) McNamara, Pittsburgh; sister, Audrey Burckart, Crescent Twp.; grandchildren, Marlo (Ed) Gonzales, Christopher (Jen) Haslett, and Matthew (Kasi) Haslett, and Stephen, David, and Matthew Muller; along with great-grandchildren, David Lowy and Jacob, Dylan, Ashley, Cara, Matthew, and Bella Haslett.

Friends will be received Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver, where a Blessing Service will be conducted by Fr. Robert Miller, Friday, May 21, 2021at 11 a.m. A private entombment will take place at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
