Betty Jean "Bj" Martin

Betty Jean (BJ) Martin, 91, of Brighton Twp., passed away December 6, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Born February 17, 1930 in Indiana, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roy Freeman and Ida Mae Barnett.

BJ was a strong, beautiful, loving woman who devoted her entire life to her family and friends. She touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew her. Family and caring for those she loved meant the world to her.

BJ is survived by her two sons, Jeff (Candy) Martin, Beaver, PA and Greg (Barbara) Martin, The Woodlands, TX; one daughter, Beverly (Brian) Evans, Chippewa, PA; two sisters-in-law, Helen Martin and Nancy Pounds, Indiana, PA; cherished grandchildren, Lucas (Sara) Martin, Cypress, TX, Lindsay (Mike) Courteau, Beaver, PA, Joe (Rachel) Martin, Midland, TX, Jessica Martin, Austin, TX, James Martin, Dallas, TX, Carly and Matthew Evans, Chippewa, PA; great-children, Avery and Olivia Martin, Brooklynn and Penelope Courteau, and Lucas Wade, William Henry, and Ada Violet Martin. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Drenning W. Martin, a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Mae and Raymond McCurdy, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jane and Frank Ziner, Marti and Don Lauffer, and Art Pounds.

Friends will be received on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, PA 15009. A service will take place at College Avenue United Methodist Church, 345 College Avenue, Beaver, PA, on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11am. A private interment will take place at Beaver Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in BJ’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association (Pittsburgh Office, 2835 East Carson Street, Second Floor, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203) or the American Cancer Society Relay For Life Brady’s Run c/o Martin-Ward Team (320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205).

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Barnabas Beaver Meadows for their years of compassionate care provided to BJ. Also, a special thank you to St. Barnabas Hospice for their support and loving care.
