Beverly J. Russell

October 5, 1941 — June 28, 2023

Beverly J. Russell, 81, of Brighton Twp., passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Concordia Villa St. Joseph, Baden.

Born October 5, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Joseph P. and Alice M. Lindsay Russell, and step-mother, Dorothy Croyle. A 1959 graduate of Beaver Area High School, Beverly went on to serve proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. She returned home in 1965 and began a long career at Westinghouse/Eaton, Beaver, retiring in 2003. In her spare time, Beverly loved to kayak and travel the world, having visited Japan, Germany, England, Ireland, South America, Alaska and Canada. She was an accomplished vocalist and musician, playing the piano, organ and accordion, an avid photographer, gardener, and rescuer of stray cats. Beverly also held the distinction of having never missed a day of school in 12 years. She had been a member of both Park Presbyterian Church, Beaver and Marion Hill Christian Alliance Church, New Brighton.

A faithful servant of the Lord, her infectious laugh, quick smile and gentle spirit will be missed. A harder worker could not be found. If help was ever needed, hers were the first pair of hands to show up, no questions asked.

Beverly will be greatly missed by her siblings, Joseph (Martha) Russell and Cynthia ‘Peg’ Schweinsberg, all of New Brighton, George (Marlene) Russell, Chester, WV and Janet (Lawrence) Hill, South Heights; along with numerous loving nieces and nephews; close friends, Betty Sue Schaughency and Martha Smeltzer; and the Braun Family, who embraced her long ago as one of their own.

Along with her parents and step-mother, she was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Hawkins, brother-in-law Robert Schweinsberg and longtime friend, June Braun.

Friends will be received Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A private interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Industry. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
