Bonnita L., “Bonnie,” McGeehan, 84, of Ohioville, Pennsylvania, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 at home with her loving family by her side.
Born October 17, 1938, in Ohioville, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Pillar) Smyda. Bonnie was a wonderful wife, mother, and mimi. She worked in many capacities–from homemaker to bank teller, from receptionist to sales associate–with always a kind word and a positive attitude toward everyone she met. She touched so many lives and gained friendships no matter where she went. Bonnie was a faithful member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Blaise Roman Catholic Church and also a member of the St. Anthony Auxiliary. She loved God, her family, and watching endless varieties of birds from her favorite bay window.
Bonnie will be greatly missed by her children, Sal Porto, Tracy (Don) Schubert, and Jason Porto, and her step-children, Donald (Joyce), David (Cheryl), and Thomas Jr. (Diane) McGeehan; grandchildren, Courtney (Salvatore) Ignozzi, and Mia and Donnie Schubert; and a great-grandchild, Amora Ignozzi, as well as numerous step-grandchildren.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her second husband, Thomas J. McGeehan, Sr. (2016); her first husband, Salvatore Porto (1981); and brothers, John “Sonny,” Thomas, and Edward Smyda.
Friends will be received Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Schwerha Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Avenue, Midland, PA 15059. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 10:30 AM, at St. Blaise Roman Catholic Church, 772 Ohio Avenue, Midland, PA 15059. A private interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in Bonnie’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
