Carol Morin

d. March 17, 2023

Carol A. Morin, 79, of Aliquippa PA, passed away on March 17, 2023, at PAM Health Specialty Hospital at Heritage Valley in Beaver, PA from complications of a debilitating stroke suffered in 2020. Despite serious medical struggles, and to the astonishment of the entire medical community, she earned the title of unicorn by surviving on sheer will and determination to just live another day, continuing to experience the joys of life by remaining in constantly in touch with her children and grandchildren, as well as occasional outings to family events. Born on January 31, 1944, in Holyoke, MA, she was the daughter of the late Emeranda and Irene (Durand) Morin. Carol enjoyed musicals and loved to dance, bike, swim, run, ice skate, ski, and travel all over North America, with her favorite vacation spot being the beach in St. Augustine, FL. Carol spent much of her life living in Wethersfield, CT where she raised her family, and had several careers, including her most cherished position of Ski School Director at Ski Sundown in New Hartford, CT. It is there that she founded the Adaptive Ski Program for individuals with disabilities and special needs. She was a frequent runner of 5K’s, and was a member of a bike riding group which visited many areas of the state as well as 1-day round trips to Vermont and back! Carol never met a Neil Diamond or Barry Manilow song that she didn’t like and had a wicked sense of humor right up until her last day. After retirement she moved to Beaver, PA to be close to her daughter Tammy and her family, where one night while they were out at his concert Garth Brooks had the entire sold-out PPG Arena in Pittsburgh sing happy birthday to Carol. Carol is survived by her children, Tamara (Marchion) Guadagnoli of Aliquippa, PA, Elizabeth Mercier Bell of Orlando, FL, Robert Mercier of Southington, CT, Edward Mercier of Red Hook, NY, and her grandchildren Alexa Guadagnoli, Mackenna Guadagnoli, Catessa Guadagnoli, Jennifer Pelizza Moss, Nicole Pelizza, Phoenix Mercier, Abby Mercier, and her beloved dog companion, Charlie. The family would like to give a very special thank you to Tammy Guadagnoli and the unbelievably unselfish son-in-law Jim Guadagnoli who brought Carol into their home, sacrificing a great deal to care for and be primary caretakers for Carol all day, every day so mom could live out her last years in dignity and comfort. A service celebrating Carol will be held on June 10, 2023, Noll Funeral Home, 333 Third Street, Beaver, PA 15009. The family will be accepting guests at 1:30, with a service to follow at 2:00. A memorial fund has been set up in honor of Carol, with thanks to her Ski Sundown friends and coworkers.
