Carroll E. “Oscar” Carpenter, call sign W3ARH, 81, of Hookstown, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016.
Born July 7, 1935 in Clarksburg, WV, he was a son of the late Charles W. Carpenter, Sr., and Mary A. Paintiff Carpenter. Oscar served as a proud member of the U.S. Air Force and had retired from the former Horsehead Corp. In his spare time, Oscar was an amateur radio operator, recognized over the radio frequency as W3ARH, and a former member of the Irish Club of Beaver County. An artist by nature, Oscar expressed his creativity through music, poetry, and photography and was well known for his love of animals.
Oscar is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Nona Carpenter, Hookstown; three sons, Charles F. (Jaclyn) Carpenter, Warren, OH, John W. (Susan) Carpenter, Ravenna, OH, and Eric J. (Connie) Carpenter, Hiram, OH; three daughters, Rebecca (Dennis) Brock, Waukesha, WI, Nona R. (Richard) Stepp, Butler, and April L. (Anthony, Jr.) Casciato, Waukesha, WI; four brothers, Charles W. Carpenter, Jr., Hookstown, John (Linda) Carpenter, Chippewa Township, and Harry (Janet) Carpenter, and Thomas (Rose) Speary, all of Industry; one sister, Gloria (Chuck) Deem, FL; eleven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Lawrence, and Frank Carpenter, and one sister, Patricia Bundy.
Friends will be received Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 2 pm until time of service at 5:30 pm in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver, where a service will be conducted by Oscar’s pastor, Reverend Carl Neely. Military rites will be given by the Beaver County Special Unit. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
