Charles Morris Andrews

Charles “Chap” Morris Andrews, 91 Resident of Patterson Heights, with long time connection to Beaver, Pa. Passed away Friday December 7, 2018.

Born February 25, 1927 to Ruth Ann Morris Andrews and Clement Mathew Andrews, His grandparents were William Andrews and Bessie Laughlin Andrews of Beaver, Pa and all had a longtime connection of serving Park Presbyterian Church. Chap served as an Elder, Trustee and Sunday School Teacher.

He graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1944, lettering in baseball. He Attended Virginia Military Institute and joined the United States Navy at the age of 18, serving in France and China and during WWII, attaining the rank of Seamen Second Class. He graduated from Penn State University in 1951 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and upon graduation, worked for Michael Baker Jr. Inc. After earning his Professional Engineering License, he became City Engineer for the City of Beaver Falls, Pa.

His Family moved to Patterson Heights in 1929 and he enjoyed telling people how long he lived there. He served multiple terms on Patterson Heights Council. He Later became Manager of the Beaver Falls Municipal Authority, and under his tenure the Hydro- Electric Plant was built. Upon retirement he became the manager of Operations with American Commonwealth Management Company. He also served as president of the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association. An avid Penn State football fan, holding season tickets for over fifty years. He attended every bowl game and entertained Penn State head coach Joe Paterno in his home in 1973.

A member of the Beaver Valley Country Club from 1950 until it was sold and became Beaver Valley Golf Club. He continued to play 18 holes of golf several times a week until three years ago. He was a member of the Beaver Falls Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He volunteered at the Beaver County Rotary Auction for many years and took great pleasure in ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. During the winter months he did volunteer tax work.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joann Stewart Andrews and son Charles Mark Andrews; a brother, John W. (Marion) Andrews, Carmel, IN; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Aluseo, Patterson Heights; and a niece and several nephews.

Friends will be received Tuesday December 11, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A Funeral Service will be held at Park Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am on Wednesday December 12, 2018 followed by full Military Rites by the Beaver County Special Unit with a reception to follow.  Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
