Charles "Chuck" Deem

July 6, 1952 — November 12, 2021

Charles (Chuck) Deem passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021.

Chuck was born in Georgia and raised in Midland, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Charles A. and Lorene Deem. Chuck was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1970. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served honorably in the Vietnam War.

Upon returning to the states, Chuck fell in love with Gloria Carpenter. They married in the summer of 1972 and became loving parents of their only child, Paula.

Chuck’s career in engineering took him from Maryland to Texas and from England to China. During his career, he had the opportunity to be a powerful mentor who shaped the careers of several of his colleagues who became his close friends.

He enjoyed traveling, flying single-engine planes, hunting, golfing and boating. His family spent many summer days sailing aboard the Hi Ho on the Chesapeake Bay. After Chuck retired from Nestle, he and Gloria moved to Florida’s Gulf coast where he continued his passion for boating and fishing.

Chuck was a loving husband, father, friend and mentor. He is survived by his mother, Lorene Deem; his daughter, Paula (Steve) Pitkow, his grandson Reed; his brother Jim (Janet) Deem; his brother Ken (Lorraine) Deem; and his sister Lori (Jay) Schmidt. Chuck is also survived by his cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who he loved and cherished.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles A. Deem, and his beloved wife of 47 years, Gloria Deem.
