Charles J. Hockenberry, 91, of Ohioville, passed away surrounded by his family, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
Born October 31, 1934 in Industry, he was the son of the late Charles S. and Mary G. Klink Hockenberry. A graduate of Midland High School, Class of 1953, Chuck went on to proudly serve in the U. S. Navy. Following his service, he worked at Crucible Steel, Midland, farmed, and drove trucks with his dad, hauling coal, gravel, lime and cinders for highway use. When Chuck retired from Crucible, he drove truck for XL Sand and Gravel and continued farming. He also enjoyed hunting, coon hunting, and fishing.
A favorite hobby of Chucks was driving a team of horses as a member of the Ohio Wagon Train. A man who could fix anything placed on his workbench, Chuck built his own covered wagon, making many trips throughout his life. A faithful member of Oak Grove Church of Christ, Industry, he will be remembered mostly as a devoted husband and loving father to his three daughters.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Noca Hockenberry, and his granddaughter, Rachel E. Francis.
He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Susan (Dave) Francis, North Jackson, OH, Sherry Hockenberry, Ohioville, and Lorraine Hockenberry, Ellsworth, OH; sister, Dora Jean Young, Darlington; grandchildren, D. J. Francis, Lafayette, CO, Jessica (Josh Hill) Francis, Canfield, OH, Anne (Mike) Karney, Ravenna, OH, and Kelsey Francis, Orlando, FL; along with great-grandchildren, William, Adeline, Noah, Madeline, and Evelyn.
Friends will be received Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. in Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, December 8, 2025, at 1 p.m., at Oak Grove Church of Christ, Industry. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
