Christine Lowry McStay, Hopewell Township, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Saturday, October 24, 2015.
Chris was born to Kathleen Patterson Lowry and Charles “Bud” Lowry and was raised in Beaver Falls. After a long tenure, accruing tales from her travels in the skies as a flight attendant for USAirways, Chris moved with her family to Houston, TX to raise their daughters amidst aloe plants, delicious home-cooked meals, and social gatherings at “Crisi’s Oasis.” She and her husband William McStay returned to Beaver County in 2005 to be near family and friends, but kept the spirit of Texas alive, along with their black and gold pride.
A combination of her WWII pilot father and loving mother’s best attributes, she will be remembered as both fierce and strong, and a personable and loving woman who brought fun and joy to every room. The memory of her natural beauty on the inside and out will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. As a fan of old Hollywood, she followed the Katherine Hepburn mantra: “If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.”
Christine is survived by her husband Bill, daughters Meghan Erin Glover and Maura (Neill) Whiteley, sisters Elissa (Randy) Stevens and Barbara (John) Havey, mother Kathleen, stepchildren, William McStay, Jr. and Rene Ryno, nieces Heather and Ashley Havey and Anna Stevens, grandchildren Charli, Dylan, and Cole Whiteley, and Madison and Olivia McStay, and her dog Finnegan.
