Dale E. Mcdonald

Dale E. McDonald, 100, of Sewickley, formerly of Beaver, passed away on October 10, 2023, at Masonic Village Sewickley.

Born on May 20, 1923, in Swissvale, PA, he was the son of the late Alex and Anna Baker McDonald, Dale was a faithful member of Park Presbyterian Church. He was a 1941 graduate of Swissvale High School, then went on to serve for the United States Army, having served in WWII, 96th Infantry Divisions, 321 Combat Engineer Battalion, and returned home to attend and graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1949, and obtained his Doctorate in 1966. Dale started his teaching career at the former Churchill School District, working there from 1949-1967, he then worked as the Superintendent for Beaver Area School District from 1967 until his retirement in 1975. In his retirement he worked at CCBC until hired at North Hills School District as Assistant Superintendent until his final retirement. Dale also was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Along with his parents, Dale is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy McDonald, and his second wife, Jessie McDonald; three brothers, Harold, Bob, and Bill McDonald; and one sister, Thelma Borland.

Dale will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Elizabeth (Hermann) Brosch, Beaver, and Penelope (Steve) Thomas, Orem, Utah; one son, Jeffrey (Sharon) McDonald, Marietta, PA; grandchildren, Heather (Col. Frank) Montgomery, Jessica McDonald, Julie (Ken) Bartel, Tama (James) D’Angelo, Ann Young, Sarah DeYoung, Carmen Black, Shonna (Garrett Loveless) Thomas, Cole Thomas, Brynne (Jared) Gant; great-grandchildren, Nora Bartel, Oliver D’Angelo, Canyon and Sage Young, Halle Maestas, Tacy, Collin, Kaitlin, and Conner Maloy, Peter and Evelynne Gant, Jack Montgomery, great-great grandchildren, Arya Morgan and Magnus Valentine.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday October 18, 2023 at 11am at Park Presbyterian Church, 275 Commerce Street, Beaver, PA 15009. Online condolences may be shared at www.nollfuneral.com.

Interment to follow at Beaver Cemetery with Full Military Rites.
