Dana Lynn Sortino Shinko, 51, of Pittsburgh, formerly of South Beaver Township, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 14, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born May 6, 1965 in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Diane Kosanovich Sortino, Midland, and the late Vincent Ralph Sortino. Dana was a former teacher of cosmetology at the South Hills Beauty Academy. During her two year residence at Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, she was well known for her dedication to planning activities and leading Bible Study and greatly cherished her friendships with both patients and staff.
In addition to her mother Diane, she is survived by two daughters, Nina Sortino, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Paula (Mike) Werry, Hiller, PA; one brother, Vincent M. (Kristen) Sortino, Upper St. Clair; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Zsophia Werry; along with five nieces and two nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Dana was preceded in death by her father, Vincent Sortino in 2012.
Friends will be received Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 12:00 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. Dana’s close friend, Pastor John Nuzzo, will officiate. Interment will take place a Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dana’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
