Daniel M. Borato, 90, of Industry, passed away early Thursday morning, July 18, 2019, at the Beneva Lakes Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Sarasota, FL.

Born December 24, 1928 in Midland, he was a son of the late Mile and Paulina Prebicevich Borota. A graduate of Lincoln High School in Midland, Daniel went on to proudly serve in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Shortly after returning to the area, Daniel met Dorothy Mihalik, marrying her June 17, 1951 and moving to Westlake, OH. With the birth of their first son in 1954, they eventually moved back to Midland where Daniel was a General Contractor and Dorothy, his office manager and homemaker. Their second son was born in 1957. The couple continued to work together until Daniel’s retirement.

Daniel and Dorothy moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1972, residing there for approximately six years before moving back to Industry. They missed being snowbirds so around 2013, they moved to Nokomis, FL to live near their two sons.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy Mihalik Borato in February, 2019; Brothers George M. (Kay), Milan M. (Mike), Nicholas M. (Anne), Sister Evelyn (Dr. Joseph) Dawson and brothers-in-law, John and Tom Mihalik, Jovan (Joanne) Vukmaravich.

Daniel will be sadly missed by his sons, Ronald (Debbie) Borato, and Mark J. Borato; sister-in-law, Joanne (Mihalik) Vukmaravich; cherished granddaughter, Natasha (Mark) Herleman; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 4 p.m. until time of Pomen blessing at 7 p.m., followed by a Masonic Service, conducted by Galsgow Lodge #485 in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. A funeral service will be celebrated by Fr. Dejan Barac, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 30 Tenth St., Midland, PA 15059, followed by Military Honors. A private interment will follow at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Daniel’s name may to made to Dr. Laza Kostich Choir or St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Midland.

Organizations Dad belonged to: VFW, American Serbian Club, Dr. Laza Kostich choir (over a 50 year member), Serbian Singing Federation, Tamburitzan Association of America, American Legion, Masonic Glasgow Lodge 485 F. & A. M., Serbian National Federation, Fraternal Order of Police, Carpenters Union of Ohio.
