Dennis Stephen Kalember, 73, of Brighton Township., formerly of Conway, died Wednesday, October 26, 2022 in Brighton Rehab, Brighton Township, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born December 18, 1948, in Conway, he was a son of the late Jennie Gorka and Ernest Kalember. Denny was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Saints Peter and Paul Church, and lived in Beaver, Brighton Township for the last 49 years.
Denny was a 1966 graduate of Freedom High School, and worked for Sears for many years. His most recent job was part time at Rural King at the Beaver Valley Mall. Denny built furniture and did remodeling. He was a member of Conway VFW, and Midland Sportsman club. Denny served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam period honorably on a destroyer, USS Meridith. He was a very talented wood worker and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. Denny also loved to garden and to prepare the food from the garden. His most recent hobby was miniature War Games, where he constructed the battlefields played in the games. Denny got several awards for the authenticity of the battlefields. He also painted the miniature soldiers for the different battles played.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by an infant brother, Stephen Kalember; a brother, Greg Kalember; and a sister Louise (Kalember) Williams.
Dennis will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Carolyn (Weaver) Kalember; a niece Jennifer (Williams) Shaner; and her children Stephen, Morgan, Kendra and Nathaniel Shaner; a sister-in-law, Lynn (Greg) Kalember; cousin, William Albright and a faithful feline, Jake.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Valley Parish Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
Interment will take place at Beaver Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Dennis’ name may be made to: Vietnam Veterans Association, Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Wounded Warriors Project.
Carolyn would like to thank all the wonderful nurses and staff at Brighton Rehab Grove 1 for the great care they gave Denny and the loving support they gave her. She would also like to thank all of their friends and family who supported her. The rides to the Pittsburgh hospital, delicious food and help with Denny’s medical issues.
