Dewayne “Bunky” McDanel, 79, of Brighton Township, entered into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, June 24, 2016, at Heritage Valley Beaver after a long and courageous battle with gastric cancer.

Born December 29, 1936, in Beaver Falls, to the late Dewayne “Red” McDanel and Virginia Nesselroad McDanel Bell, Bunky was a graduate of New Brighton High School and had attended Youngstown State University. Beginning his career at B&W, Beaver Falls, Bunky went on to become owner of the Log House, Beaver Falls, a Boilermaker for Local #154, owner of The Corner Grill in New Brighton, and a Wreck Master at Conway Yards. His interests continued in the food and entertainment industry when he became the original owner and driving force behind Jeffries Landing, Bridgewater, and the founder and long-time owner of McDanel Vending, Beaver Falls. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he was a passionate Pittsburgh Sports fan, especially when it came to Pitt Basketball and Football and the Steelers. Bunky enjoyed spending time as a member of many clubs including the Beaver/Rochester Lions Club, VFW of Rochester, Monaca Turners, American Legion of Beaver Falls, Elks Club of Rochester, Serbian Club of Aliquippa, Moose Club of Ft. Myers Beach, FL, and the Iroquois Club of Conneaut Lake.

Surviving Bunky is his soulmate and loving wife, Carole Short Castle McDanel; a daughter, Elizabeth (Brandon) Castle-McDanel Booker, Charlotte, NC; a grandson, Calvin Jeffrey Booker, Charlotte, NC; stepfather, Charles (Kay) Bell, Beaver; one brother, James “Jim” McDanel, New Brighton; best friend and former wife, JoAnn Mannerino McDanel and their four children, Cathy (Rusty) McDanel Luzell, Ohioville; Ron (Gary Lynn) McDanel, Beaver Falls; Matt (Renee) McDanel, Center Township, and Robert “Bob” (Sallie) McDanel, Brighton Township; eight grandchildren, Lauren (Mike) Cook, New York; Blythe (John) Black, Virginia; Alysha (Mike) Dragoo, Asia, Bryan, Patrick, and Kevin McDanel, Beaver; Sage McDanel, Beaver Falls, and Madison McDanel, Center Township, along with a special niece and nephew, Amy Jo (Donald) Avery Walker and their children, Shania, AJ, and Arison.

Friends and family will be received Monday, June 27, 2016, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, June 28, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC., 333 Third St., Beaver, where a funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver.
