Donald G. Portman

Donald G. Portman, 92, of Brighton Township, passed away at his home early Thursday morning, January 7, 2016 surrounded by his family.

Born December 18, 1923 in Flint, MI, he was a son of the late Fred and Lucille Portman and was a resident of Brighton Township since 2005. Donald retired in 1982 as a manager of engineering from Westinghouse Electric, Vanport, after a career spanning over 30 years. He served proudly in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII and was a faithful member of Pathway Church, Chippewa Township.

Donald is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sherie E. Young Portman, two sons, Robert Portman, Raleigh, NC, and Richard ( Diane) Portman, Brighton Township, four sisters, Christine Gumpp, NJ, Virginia Bentel, UT, Barbara Wettach, FL, and Sally (Bob) Sell, Brighton Township, along with four beloved grandchildren, Stephanie, Taylor, Anthony, and Nikki ( Stefan McKeel) Portman.

Friends will be received in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Friday, January 8, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. An additional viewing will be conducted Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Pathway Church, Chippewa Township, conducted by his pastor, Reverend Jeff McNicol.
