Doris Vess Gailey

Doris Vess Gailey 91, of Ohioville, passed away suddenly at home, September 30, 2023. Born June 11, 1932 in East Liverpool, Ohio. She was the daughter of Harry and Grace Vess. She was a Homemaker and while her children were growing up, she was a Sunday School Teacher at New Salem Church. Doris was also, the head of the Sometimers Senior group at the church and a volunteer Librarian at Fairview Elementary school. She will be remembered by her loving family for her sense of humor, Sunday family dinners and supporting her grandchildren and great grandchildren at their many activities. Doris also loved to watch game shows and play along, do word search puzzles and playing Scrabble. She also loved her Pittsburgh sports teams. Doris enjoyed Hummingbirds, Star gazing, Sunsets, and Rainbows. Along with her parents Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Nye Gailey (1994); sisters, Pat Bayer, Sue Headland, and Jo Ann Hillard; and her nephew Tom Headland, who she raised after his mother’s death. Doris will be greatly missed by her son Herbert (Mary Pat) Gailey; daughters, Desma (Tom) Dawson and Dannette (Mike) Lindner; 7 grandchildren, Herb (Melissa) Gailey, Sue Gailey (Mike) Wain, Matthew (Chelsea) Dawson, Aaron (Karen) Dawson, Jeremy (Aubre) Lindner, Nathan (Megan) Lindner and Justin (Lisa) Lindner; 18 cherished great-grandchildren, Mela Gailey, Ashley, Luke, Kara and Emily Wain, Hazel Dawson, Tessa, Libby and Avery Lindner, Zoey, Sadie, Jace, Zane and Liam Lindner, Ethan, Chloe, Harper and Olivia Lindner. Friends will be received on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 1PM until the time of service at 3PM at the New Salem Presbyterian Church, 348 Salem Church Road, Midland, PA 15059 In lieu of flowers, Doris would like donations sent to New Salem Presbyterian Church, 348 Salem Church Road, Midland, PA 15059 or the Ohioville Volunteer Fire Department, 108 Salem Church Road, Midland, PA 15059.
