Dorothy Averill Glessner, 89, of Cary, North Carolina, formerly of Beaver, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her residence.
Born January 29, 1926 in Richmond, Vermont, she was a daughter of Wilbert and Helen Averill. Dorothy graduated from John Hopkins University, MD where she received her registered nursing degree. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was an active member, serving on many committees. Upon arriving in NC, she resided at Jordan Oaks, an independent retirement community in Cary, where she was surrounded by family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Duward, a daughter, Catherine, and a son, David.
She is survived by her daughter Mildred “Milly” Biller and her partner Will Harkins, granddaughter Christina (Joe) Call, a grandson, Tim (Jodi Hayes) Biller, and two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Gabrielle Call.
A memorial service was conducted December 12, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, Beaver. Interment will follow at a later date at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver. Arrangements were handled by Noll Funeral Home, 333 Third St., Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
