Dorothy Ramsey,79, of Brighton Township, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 15, 2015 at Beaver Meadows with her family by her side.

Born September 30, 1935 in New Brighton, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Dorothy McGraw. Having graduated from Beaver High School and Geneva College, she taught First Grade for 1 year before becoming a fulltime homemaker. Dorothy was a member of Park Presbyterian Church, Beaver, the Daughters of the American Revolution (Ft. McIntosh Chapter), the Book and Play Club of Beaver, Beaver Garden Club, and when her sons were in high school, the Beaver Band Boosters.

Known for her sense of humor and feisty, strong-willed personality, she was a dedicated mother first, but also enjoyed playing bridge, entertaining, reading, traveling, and playing tennis. Dorothy was also gifted at creating wreaths and flower arrangements.

Beside her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Blaine Ramsey, whom she married in a double wedding with her sister, Mary Anne on August 17, 1957.

She is survived by 2 sons, Rev. James (Rev. Jo) Ramsey, Tarentum, PA, Tom (Dr. Susan) Ramsey, Germantown, WI, and three grandchildren, Benjamin and Fiona Ramsey, Tarentum, and Sarah Ramsey, Germantown, WI.

Friends will be received Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 4:30 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. The service will be conducted by her pastor Reverend Mark Boyd and pastor emeritus, Reverend Paul Wierman . Private interment will be at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to Park Presbyterian Church, 275 Commerce St., Beaver, PA 15009.
