Edward Singer

Edward Singer, 84, formerly a resident of Brighton Township, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Franciscan Manor with family by his side. Edward was born in Jersey City, NJ on June 22, 1937. His childhood included violin lessons from his father, a part time job in a jewelry store and spending time with his brother. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Jersey City in 1956. A veteran, he served in the U.S Air Force from 1956 to 1960 as a Radar Technician stationed in Japan, Korea and New York State. His career with the Federal Aviation Administration spanned 33 years working as a Field Sector Manager at Roanoke, Bluefield, Greater Pitt and Allegheny Airports. While in Bluefield, WV, he co-founded and became President of Summit Flyers, Inc., a flying club, with about a dozen small aircraft. Edward moved to Brighton Township in 1977 with his family and worked at Greater Pittsburgh Airport for several years before transferring to Allegheny County Airport where he retired in 1993. In addition to his parents, Solomon and Ruth Singer, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Darlene Singer. Edward is survived by a son Van (Janet) Singer, Yardley, PA; two grandchildren, Joseph Singer, Austin, TX, and Julia Singer, Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Rebecca Singer, Monaca, PA; one brother Nobert David Singer, Fort Myers, FL; a nephew, Bryan Singer, Los Angeles, CA, and his son Dashiell Clunie-Singer; a cousin, Francine Derman, Piscataway, NJ and her children Randa (Brian) Michel, Cherry Hill, NJ, Hedy (Peter) Badolato , Pemberton, NJ, Justin Derman, Boundbrook, NJ, and Amy (Leif) Langerude, Clayton, NC; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Tabor and her children Rhonda (Roger) Woolwine, and Carla (Clyde) Donley of Princeton, WV; and niece, Sandy Steele of Kellysville, WV. He was assisted in care by special family friend, Gerrie, Brighton Township, for several years and considered Elizabeth (Scott) Tudor, Patterson Twp, and her children Tyler Makray, Tampa, FL, and Emily (Ian) Frye, Aliquippa, PA as family. Friends will be received Friday, February 4, 2022, from 12 p.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver.
