Edwin F. Weiland, 73, of Ohioville, passed away with his family at his side, Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
Born September 5, 1947 in Loretto, PA, he was a son of the late Edwin A. and Ruth Eckenrode Weiland. A resident of Ohioville for 43 years, Ed served proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He went on to work as an Air Traffic Controller at Greater Pittsburgh Airport, and retired from Youngstown Airport in 2007. He also worked for 17 years as a mail carrier in Aliquippa. In his spare time, Ed loved to hunt and garden, especially when he could share the vegetables he grew with friends and family. He was a faithful member of St. Blaise Parish, where he served as an eucharistic minister, lector, visited the homebound, and taught religious education as a CCD teacher.
Ed will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Alice Seymour Weiland, Ohioville; two sons, Edwin M. (Sonya) Weiland, Strongsville, OH, and Scott (Sue) Weiland, Holden, MA; a daughter, Jill (Dan) Mosura, Brighton Twp., three brothers, Leonard (Linda) Weiland, Walt (Donna) Weiland, and Joseph (Paula) Weiland; five sisters, Phyllis ( Pete) Lilly, Jean (Adam) Thur, Carol (George) Thur, Joan (Jim) Swansiger, and Cathy (Baron) Krug; four grandchildren, Edwin, Chloe, and Luke Weiland, and Alicen Mosura; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid restrictions and concern for others, both visitation and Mass of Christian Burial at St. Blaise Parish were private. Interment took place at St. Michael Parish Cemetery, Loretto, PA. Professional arrangements have been entrusted to the SCHWERHA-NOLL FUNERAL HOME, 600 BEAVER AVE., MIDLAND. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
