Elsie Dawson Standley, age 97 of Beaver, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Celebration Villa of Chippewa Township.
She was born on January 4, 1929, in Hanover Township, PA, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Shamp Dawson. Elsie and her husband Floyd were both graduates of Beaver High School. Elsie was a devoted homemaker, as well as working for several years at Michael Baker Corporation.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Standley, two brothers, Frank Dawson and Ray Dawson, two sisters, Hazel Johnson and Mabel Fink, and her daughter Joyce Standley Perri.
Elsie had a very strong faith. For many years until her illness Elsie was the backbone of her church, serving in many capacities. She was the United Women’s President for decades, serving on dinner and decorating committees, Sunday School teacher and office secretary. In addition, Elsie chaired the Rummage Sale, now named Elsie’s Cupboard.
Elsie loved flowers and gardening. She instilled her love for flowers in her daughters and grandchildren. She was a member of the Tusca Ridge Garden Club for 40 years and an honorary member for life. She served as President and Chaplain. Elsie was very dedicated to her club, founding and coordinating the Annual Green Sale. She was also a member of the Colonial Dames for many years.
Elsie is survived by her daughter Karen Standley Guandolo (Alan) of Patterson Heights, son Floyd Standley (Leigh Ann) of Franklin, NC, son-in-law Ernest Perri of State College, PA., six grandchildren, Leah Guandolo, South Beaver Township, Celene Rehberg, Pilot Mountain, NC, Terra Lee (Nicholas), Pilot Mountain, NC, Nicholas Perri (Brittany), State College, PA, Emily Perri (Colin), Pittsburgh, PA, Kasi Perri, Naples, FL. Elsie also has eight great-grandchildren that she cherished.
Many thanks to Gateway Hospice and Celebration Villa of Chippewa Township for their loving care in making Elsie’s last few months very comfortable.
Friends may visit the Noll Funeral Home, Beaver, PA, on Sunday, April 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 13, at 11: a.m. at the College Avenue United Methodist Church, 345, College Avenue, Beaver, PA 15009. Donations may be sent in Elsie’s name to the College Avenue United Methodist Church.
