Elsie Deffenbaugh

March 25, 1930 — August 15, 2023

On August 15, 2023, our beloved Elsie Deffenbaugh, devoted wife, precious mother, loving grandmother and great grandmother was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was born Elsie Grace Kerr on March 25, 1930 to Charles and Hannah Marie Kerr and grew up with five siblings in Brighton Township, Pennsylvania.

Elsie was a 1948 graduate of Beaver Area High School. In 1950 she met the love of her life Edward “Eddie” Carl Deffenbaugh, and on October 9, 1950 they were married and shared a life of wedded bliss for over the next 68 years until Eddie’s passing in 2019. She prided herself as a loving wife and homemaker and devoted mother to their three children, Joyce, Vicky and Mark.

Her Christian faith was very important to her as she was a longtime member of Four Mile United Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years. As the years passed, she became a beloved grandmother of five, devoting much time, energy and love to her grandkids, making her home their “summer home” and loved large family get togethers throughout the year and on holidays. She had a great love for music and a natural artistic talent for painting and even started a productive hobby, which became a home business with her husband Eddie, where he would craft and she would paint a vast collection of country crafts that they would showcase at craft shows for years. Traveling was also something she really enjoyed, everywhere from Hawaii to Alaska to memorable trips to Disney World with her grandkids and many adventurous cruises. Although she will be remembered for her gentle kindness and caring heart, those that knew her well also appreciated her feisty and humorous side.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward, dear daughter, Vicky, brothers, Charles, Robert “Putt,” Martin and Samuel Kerr.

She is survived by her loving sister, Linda Delauter (Jim), of Brighton Township, dear sister-in-law Diane, dear daughter Joyce (Keith) of Beaver, PA, dear son Mark of Manassas, VA, dear son-in-law Mike of Hamilton, VA, loving grandchildren Kristin of Hamilton, VA, Gretchen (Ramone) of Port St Lucie, FL, Mike (Amanda) of Hamilton, VA, Christopher (Pam) of Beaver, PA, Sarah Marie (Frank), of Aldie, VA, wonderful great grandchildren Anna Maria (USMC – Lance Corporal), Phillip, Emily, Jacob, Jack, Beau, Ava, Hunter, and Karamina, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her cat, Mr. Nibbs.

Friends will be received Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Funeral Home August 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow in the Beaver Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.nollfuneral.com. A special thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Bernie, Juanita, Sonia and Tiara.

“Love Lifted Me” as she would often sing… Jesus completely saves; He will lift you by His love.
