Emil "Pap" Steffen

Emil “Pap” Steffen, Jr., 89, of Brighton Twp. passed away peacefully Sunday, September 30, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born July 9, 1929 in Wilkesville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Emil and Marie Steffen. After proudly serving in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War, Emil returned home where he began his 34-year career as a mail carrier with the Beaver Post Office. A faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver, Emil participated in the Men’s Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the National Mail Carriers.

In addition to his parents, Emil was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Charlotte Patterson Steffen, who passed in 2009; a sister, Kathy Dushac; brothers, Paul Steffen and Harold (Doc) Steffen; two brothers-in-law, Walt Dushac and Floyd Benedict; and sister-in-law, Betty Steffen.

He will be greatly missed by two sons, Gregory (Emily) Steffen, Patterson Twp. and Jeffrey (Carol) Steffen, Bellwood, PA; his daughter, Pamela Steffen (Butch) Zatchey, Economy Boro; brother Ray Fred Steffen; sister, Elnore Steffen Benedict; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Steffen and Carol Steffen; cherished grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Zatchey, Matthew (Danielle) Zatchey, Natalie (Steve Price) Beck, Ben (Alicia) Steffen, Colleen Steffen (Brian) Goodman, Jacob Steffen, Jessie Steffen, and Joshua (Bethany) Steffen; great-grandchildren Bryce, Luka, and Alexandria Zatchey, Grant, Quinn, and Aida Zatchey, Aiden Beck, Parker, Reese, and Charlotte Steffen, and Gairet and Hannah Goodman.

Friends will be received Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A private interment, with full military honors, will take place at Beaver Cemetery, followed by a funeral service, conducted by his pastor, Reverend Jeff Arnold, Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Beaver. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Emil’s name be made to the Mother Teresa Hospice, 3950 Brodhead Road, Monaca, PA 15061.

The family would like to thank nurses, Danielle and Kelley, and aides, Dee and Rose of Mother Teresa Hospice for their compassionate care and love given to our Dad and Pap.
