Evelyn "Susie" (Singleton) Matthews

Evelyn “Susie” (Singleton) Matthews, 96 of Midland, died peacefully on September 16, 2021 in Concordia at Villa St. Joseph, Baden, Pennsylvania. Born February 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Barnett) Singleton. During World War II, Susie worked for a short time at Townsend Co. in Fallston, Pennsylvania. She loved planting flowers and decorating her home for the different seasons and holidays. Susie will be deeply missed by her daughter, Betty (Samuel) Sozio of Ohioville, Pennsylvania; her grandsons, Samuel Sozio, Michael (Heather) Matthews and David Matthews; her granddaughters, Elissa (James) Tanner, Merideth (Robert) Baxter, Mindy Matthews and Keshia Matthews; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Clarence Singleton and William (Madeline) Singleton. In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, Sanford “Sandy” Matthews, her son in 1995, Ronald Matthews; brothers Robert Singleton and Kenneth Singleton; and her sisters, Cora Tullis, Dorothy Maragos, Janet Cummings, Thelma Stone, Carol Galloway, and Sandra Dillon.
