Garth D. Gumtz

Garth D. Gumtz, 73 of Chippewa, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Friendship Ridge.

Born May 9, 1941 in Merrill, WI, he was a son of the late John and Doratha Gumtz. He retired as an engineering manager from ICF Kaiser Engineers in Pittsburgh, having spent most of his career as a Chemical Engineering consultant in the environmental industry; including having worked at Baker Engineers, Brighton Township and Bechtel Power Corporation in Gaithersburg, MD. A 1964 graduate of the University Wisconsin, he graduated with Tau Beta Pi Honors, and he received his Masters of Chemical Engineering from UCLA Berkeley.

Preceding him in death, besides his parents, was a brother, Martin John “Jack” Gumtz.

He is survived by a nephew, Stephen Gumtz, WV, and longtime friend, Joyce Perri, Chippewa, and her family.
