Genevieve Papavero Daniels

Genevieve “Gen” Papavero Daniels, age 89 years and 6 months, formerly of Industry, PA and Fontana, CA, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 20, 2021.

Born in 1932 in Ripa, Fagnano Alto, Italy she was the daughter of the late Antonio “Tony” Papavero and Maria “Cenzina” (DelGuzzo) Papavero. In September 1934 when Gen was age 2, she along with her older brother Dino age 5, infant brother John 7 months, and their mother Cenzina age 27, sailed for America on the SS Conte di Savoia to join their father in Aliquippa, PA. In 1946 they moved to Fontana, CA where Tony began employment as a crane operator at the newly built Kaiser Steel Corp. In Fontana Gen and the family were faithful members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she was active in the CYO, Catholic Daughters of America, and where she later married her husband Neil L. Daniels in 1955. She was an active member of the Italian-American Club, and was always proud of her Italian heritage. Gen was a 1950 graduate of Chaffey Union High School in Ontario, CA. In 1952 she graduated from Chaffey College in Alta Loma, CA with a degree in Business Administration. Prior to her marriage she was employed by Crosby Insurance Agency, and later for Kaiser Steel, both in Fontana.

Following her marriage to Neil, Gen relocated to Industry. Gen was a founding member of the former St. Christine Church in Industry, where she was active in the Christian Mothers guild, a certified religious instructor, and taught CCD. At the closure of St. Christine’s, Gen and her husband Neil joined Saints Peter and Paul Church in Beaver. She was on the Industry Borough Recreation Board, and a co-founder, co-president, and coach of Industry Girls Softball League. Gen was previously employed by the Alliance for Consumer Protection, and later as a certified nursing assistant, employed by and retired from HAP Enterprises, Inc.

In addition to her parents, and her grandparents, Giovanni and Giovanna (Fattore) Papavero, and Antonio and Elvira (Leli) DelGuzzo, Gen was preceded in death in 2014 by her husband Neil L. Daniels, her brother Dino Papavero in 1993, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Gen is survived by siblings John (JoAnn) Papavero, Sr. Christena “Ena” Papavero, and sister-in-law Sharon Papavero, three children, Marie Daniels Brauch, Joseph (Lisa) Daniels, Geneil Daniels (Bradley) Hammerlee; five beloved grandchildren, Julie Brauch (Jeremy) Ravotti, Jon Brauch, Neil V. Daniels, Audra Hammerlee, Ross Hammerlee; one beloved great-granddaughter Mia Ravotti, cherished nieces and nephews, good neighbors, and friends.

Private interment is in Beaver Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Neil. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver, PA. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
