George A. Buckley, 89, of Industry passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019.
Born October 31, 1929 in Midland, he was a son of the late Nick and Josephine (Turkoly) Bokulich and had been a resident of Midland and Industry all his life. George proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving the soldier’s Medal for Valor. He was a welder by trade, working for Crucible Steel, Colt Industries, Midland, and later, as a lock and dam operator with the Army Corp of Engineers. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Midland Council 2005, Midland American Yugoslav Club, Midland Sportsman’s Club, Midland American Legion, Post 165, and the Midland VFW, Post 8168. He was also a faithful member of St. Blaise Parish.
George will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 63 years, Julia (Boyle) Buckley, Industry; five sons, David (Rebecca) Buckley, San Diego, CA, Kenneth (Mary) Buckley, Moon Twp., Kevin Buckley, Newnan, GA, Jeffrey Buckley, Center Twp., and John (Amy) Buckley, Temecula, CA; one brother, Michael (Carol) Cecelya, Canton, MA; and grandchildren, James and Brandon Buckley, Justin, Andrew, and Grace Buckley, and John, Carrie, Megan, and Lauren Buckley.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his step-father, Joseph Cecelya, and sister, Catherine Gillespie.
Friends will be received Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Blaise Parish, with a private interment to follow at Beaver Cemetery.
