George F. Carleton

George F Carleton, 95, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Aug 22, 2019 at Villa St Joseph, Baden, PA. Born to Robert and Elizabeth Carleton in Methuen, MA., he was predeceased by his brother, Robert, and sister, Betty (Dodge), his first wife, Margaret and second wife Gertrude (Zulauf). He is survived by his four children, Ted (Fern) Carleton, Gail (Charles) Mentis, Jeff (Marta) Carleton, David (Candy) Carleton, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. George served in the Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was part of the nuclear weapons testing experiments held in Nevada in the 50’s. Using the GI Bill, George received a degree in Chemical Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines. He became a lifelong employee of Eastman Kodak Company where he took pride in his leadership role to conserve energy. He collaborated with the Dept. of Defense to further energy conservation policies. He loved his dahlias, was an avid golfer, and a longtime member and past president of Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club. He valued education and cultural fairness, considered himself a very fortunate man and held a very positive outlook on life. He will be missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank Franciscan Manor in Beaver Falls and Villa Saint Joseph of Baden for their compassionate care. His ashes will be interned at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clyde, NY at the family’s convenience. Donations in his memory may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 11988 W Main St, Wolcott, NY 14580 or Saint Joseph’s Indian School in South Dakota.
