George F. Phillis

George Franklin Phillis, 86, of Industry, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Largo, FL.

Born December 4, 1932 in Salem, OH, he was a son of the late George and Pearl Phillis. George pursued his passion for driving in 1962 when he bought his first truck, quickly turning that initial investment into George Phillis Trucking. After a decade as owner/operator of his own company, George retired, later driving for PGT Trucking until 2002. A resident of Industry for 45 years, he and his wife Dorothy enjoyed spending winters in Clearwater, FL for the past 33 years. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather of 19, and great-grandfather of 28. George was a faithful member of Beaver Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Beaver.

George will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 45 years, Dorothy Davidson Phillis; eight children, George F. Phillis, Jr., OH, Karen (Bob) Watson, TN, Virgil ( Mary Ann) Phillis, OH, Victor Phillis, OH, Kathy (Bruce Stockman) Blinkiewicz, West Mayfield, Susan (Harry) Grimm, Enon Valley, Judy Black, Beaver Falls, and Denise (Joe) Edmiston, OH; three brothers, William (Betty) Phillis, Sam ( Mary Ellen) Phillis, and James (Kay) Phillis; one sister, Wanda ( Steve) Navayosky; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Vernon Phillis; brother, Lowell Phillis; and three granddaughters.

Friends will be received Friday, March 8, 2019 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted by his pastor, Reverend Roland M. Gray III, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Beaver Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 490 College Ave., Beaver.
