Dr. George A. Redfern

September 14, 1938 — March 23, 2016

Dr. George Anthony Redfern, of Beaver, PA passed away on March 23, 2016, joining his beloved son, Christian Gerard, and all the angels and saints.

Born in Sheffield, England in 1938, he studied metallurgy at the University of Sheffield, obtaining a Master’s Degree and then a PhD in 1966. The declining steel industry in Britain led him to pursue opportunities in the U. S. in the late 60’s where he joined the International Nickel Company (INCO) first in New York, and then in Pittsburgh. George left INCO in 1978 to become Manager of Operations at Electralloy in Oil City, PA. He subsequently joined Ellwood City Forge in the mid 1980’s as its Vice President of Sales, a position he held until forming his manufacturers’ representative firm, The Redfern Company.

A man of erudition with bon mots for every occasion, he was devout to the end.

George was married to Rita Christa Redfern, who survives him. He also leaves behind a son, Klaus-Ditmar Redfern, his wife Tracey, and three grandchildren, Benjamin, Tristan, and Declan.

There will be no public visitation.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 am in Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver by his pastor, Fr. Robert Miller.
