H. Robert (Bob) McClune, 65, of Vanport Twp., passed away at home with his family at his side, Sunday, August 23, 2020.
How do you begin to share a lifetime in a few words?
Dedication and love for family and a passion for music, golf, work, and laughter. As a husband, Bob was a constant companion and friend – Bob and Diane began their journey together when they were 16 years old. They enjoyed biking, walking River Road, and traveling as spouses and best friends. And as they grew together over 49 years, spending much of it on River Road – he made sure a bench was dedicated to their love and family legacy. As a father, he demonstrated his dedication to family by being present, coaching baseball and basketball for his three sons. He attended their concerts, science fairs, and sporting events – he was there to support and encourage his sons through all their endeavors. Through his example, his sons learned to love and cherish their faith in God and dedication to family and friends. Music was always a passion. Over the years, through his love of music, Bob DJ’d many weddings, graduation parties, anniversaries, and birthdays. He made these events special and unique memories for the people he cherished, often leading dances and behind the mic, singing to the guests of honor. Bob’s dedication to his work was unprecedented as he went to work in the cold and snow and even when he did not feel well, knowing he was supporting the needs of his family. During his 40 years with First Energy, he formed life-long friendships with his co-workers who became like brothers and sisters where laughter was the main ingredient. No one loved to laugh like Bob, and his laughter was infectious. You could not help but laugh when you were around him. His many friends and family will recall him telling jokes and his quick wit as they reflect on times together. If you listen closely, his laughter lives on through the laughs of his sons. If Bob was not with his family, you would find him on the golf course. Regardless if he played well or poorly, he always wanted to get one more round in before the sun went down. His “golf buddies” know how he loved the game and the time they spent getting that little white ball in the hole provided lasting memories. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 43 years, Diane Seidl McClune; sons, Robert A. (Stacy) McClune, Daniel M. (Jennelle) McClune, and James P. McClune; sisters, Dorothy (John) Mickey, and Patricia (Pam) McIntyre; sister-in-law, Judith McClune; seven beautiful grandchildren, Jackson, Benson, Addison, Chesnie, Maxwell, Ryleigh, and Hailey; along with many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. McClune, mother, Hilda A. McClune, and brother, L. Charles McClune. Friends will be received Thursday, August 27, 2020, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver.
