Harrison Craig Gilbert, 81 of Brighton Twp passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 29, 2015 at his home.
Born December 24, 1933 in Elmira, NY, he was a son of the late Harrison Chapman and Elizabeth Emmons Gilbert and had been a resident of Brighton Twp since 1972. He had retired in 1991 as Director of Purchasing for US Airways having begun his career when the company was Mohawk Airlines in 1961. A veteran of the US Marine Corp, he had served during the Korean War and was a 1961 graduate of Alfred University in New York. Harrison was an avid vintage car enthusiast, and was a member of SVRA (Sportscar Vintage Racing Association). He loved to race and had raced many times including at Watkins Glen and the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was his wife of 25 years, Janet Blachowiak Gilbert and a sister, Laurel Gilbert.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa (Jude) Scarpello, Philadelphia, PA, Leslie (Philip) Garrison, New York City, a son, Jonathan (Tamra) Gilbert, Flemington, NJ, and 5 grandchildren, Chloe Garrison, Ethan, Kyle, Emily and Tyler Gilbert. He also leaves behind many friends including former coworkers, neighbors and fellow vintage car buffs.
A private graveside service will be conducted at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY at a later date. Arrangements are being conducted by the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
