Hazel Marion Groscost, 90, of Brighton Township, Beaver, passed away peacefully Friday evening, September 2, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver, following a brief illness.
She was born August 1, 1932, in Ohio Township (Ohioville), Pennsylvania, on the Burdick Family farm. She was the daughter of the late Orbie Leonard and Martha Evelyn (Thompson) Burdick. Hazel retired from the Beaver County Courthouse after working many years in the Domestic Relations & Public Defender’s Offices. A faithful member of Chapel Presbyterian Church in Brighton Township, she especially loved the Thursday morning Women’s Bible Study.
Hazel will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Tawnie Burchett, Cynthia (Dave) Grabski, Pamela (Dale) Reese, one son, Stephen (Kelly) Groscost; nine grandchildren, Christopher Reed, Missy (Alan) Jakes, Andy (Stephanie) Burchett, Jill (Mike) Jansto, David Grabski, Erin (Sean) Andrew, Jesse and Matthew Reese, and Katelynn Groscost; twelve great-grandchildren, Michael Burchett, Madison Sutter, Layne and Wieland Burchett, Xavier and Nadia Finch, Preston Jakes, Joshua and Nathan Reed, Chloe and Aubrey Jansto, and Sophie Andrew; one sister, Mary (Bonnie) Lee, and one brother, Sam (Joan) Burdick as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was married to the late Ronald Groscost who preceded her in death along with her parents and three sisters, Maxine Bailey, Bernice Wamsley and Betty Burchett; and three brothers, Orbie, Robert and James. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME, Third Street, Beaver, where services will be held Thursday at 11am with Pastor Steven Maker and Pastor Tom Stein officiating.
