Helen Zetz, 94 of Midland, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2015 under the compassionate care of Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1920 in Midland, she was the first born daughter of the late Steve and Dorothy Milankovich Chumura. She was a resident of Midland her whole life. She was a 1938 graduate of Lincoln High School, Midland and a devoted member of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Midland. For 20 years she worked as a finisher at the Hall China Pottery Company in East Liverpool, Ohio. In 1960 she fulfilled her life dream of going to Beauty School and becoming a beautician, which she did. She owned and operated Helen Zetz Beauty Shop for over 40 years, retiring in 2006 after suffering the first of 3 strokes. Her favorite pastime was to go shopping and traveling with her mother and daughter. Her hobbies were reading and crocheting. With the help of her parents she worked had to raise her two children and gave them every opportunity to succeed in life. She was totally devoted to her family and was always there for them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Borato on October 3, 2014, and a brother, Milan, who died in infancy.
She will be greatly missed and always loved by her family, including a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy “Tootsie” and Harry Burzenski, Midland, a son and daughter-in-law, Rudy “Putch” and Donna Jean Zetz, Hopewell, a grandson, Rudy (Julie Cucci) Zetz III, Hopewell, a granddaughter, Erica Zetz, Hopewell, great granddaughter, Riana Zimmel, Hopewell, her brother, Steve Chumura, Jr., Midland, a niece and husband, Jeanne and Dave Curtin, Tampa, FL, a nephew and wife, Steve and JoAnn Borato, Conway, and her two caregivers Paula and Cathy.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 am at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church by Father Branislav Golic. Interment will follow at the Beaver Cemetery. Our mother was one of the strongest women that we knew. She never complained about any of the hardships she had to endure throughout her lifetime. We were lucky to have had her for 94 years, and will miss and love her always.
