Howard V. Hayes

Howard Vernon “Hunty” Hayes, 91, of Palm Harbor Florida, formerly of Beaver Falls, PA, passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday, January 15, 2023. Born on May 17, 1931, in Fallston, PA, he was the son of the late Vernon Howard and Alice Marie Herron-Hayes. Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War. He retired from the city of St. Petersburg, FL as an Engineer for the Public Works Department. Howard was very active in the Highland Lakes Community, where he resided. He enjoyed golfing, swimming and playing cards, but his true compassion was for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Howard was also a member of Palm Harbor United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Timothy Charles Alex Hayes; and sister, Hazel Mele. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 68 years, Sally Jo Hamilton Hayes; son, Howard V. Hayes Jr.; daughter, Kimbra Rose (Clifford Thomas) Bertucci; grandchildren, Amanda Rose (Daniel) Salliotte, Amy Marie Bertucci and Andrea Lynn (Jaxon) Mitchell; great-grandchildren Madison Rose and Mackenzie Lou Mitchell. Full military honors will be conducted at Sylvania Memorial Park Chapel on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2 PM. Burial to follow.
