J. Daniel Maxwell I

March 30, 1934 — May 6, 2020

J. Daniel Maxwell I, 86, of Beaver, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born March 30, 1934, he was a son of the late J.T. and Kathryn Howe Maxwell. Dan was a 1952 graduate of Beaver Area High School, going on to earn his degree in Business Administration from Geneva College in 1956. He had a long career as the Director of Rates with the Duquesne Light Company, Pittsburgh. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed woodworking, making beautiful furniture for his family and friends. He loved to golf and travel with his loving family, especially to Myrtle Beach, SC. Dan’s family was the most important part of his life.

Dan will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 64 years, Carolyn Woods Maxwell, Beaver; sons, J. Daniel II (Kim) Maxwell, Virgin Islands, and Dennis P. Maxwell, Oakdale; daughter, Erin (Glenn) Niedergall, Ravenna, OH; grandchildren, Brent (Christy) Niedergall, NC, Cara (Brandon) Stout, UT, Lauren Von Buskuk, and J. D. Maxwell, III; six great-grandchildren with Dan anxiously awaiting the birth of his seventh; sister-in-law, Beverly (Harry) Humbert; and brother-in-law, Paul D. Woods.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Ella Woods Carroll; father-in-law, Walter A. Woods; and brothers-in-law, Walter, Donald, and Homer Woods; along with his sister-in-law, Dottie Woods.

In light of current events, all services were private. Professional arrangements have been entrusted to the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
