James W. Baker, Jr.

James W. Baker, Jr., 91 of Beaver passed away December 31, 2017 at Providence Rehab, Beaver Falls. Born November 25, 1926, he was a son of the late James W. Sr., & Ellen Vivian Baker, and was a 1944 graduate OF Beaver Area High School. He enlisted in 1944 and served in the US Army Air Force for 3 ½ years. He earned a BS Degree from Geneva College and a Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. In 1951, he started working for Baker Engineers, Inc. While working at Baker’s, he also did surveying for Daniel Baker. He retired From Baker’s in 1991. Jim was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver. He was loved dearly by his friends and family and will be greatly missed by many. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John, brother-in-law, Guyton Thigpen, granddaughter, Emily Paige Fencik, and daughter-in-law, Shelina Baker. Surviving are three sons, Stephen Baker, Brighton Twp., Philip Baker, Palm Harbor, FL, James (Kim Baker-Stowe) Baker, New Waterford, OH, 2 daughters, Susan (Bob) Kaestner, Charlotte, NC, Amy (Jeff) Fencik, Dallas, TX, a sister, Vivian Jane Thigpen, Brighton Twp., 16 grandchildren, Jeremy, Olivia, and Robert Baker, Alyna, Tashah, Zenah, and Jorden Baker, Zachary and Grace Baker-Stowe, Robby Kaestner, Brendan, Matthew, Evan, Joshua, Sean, and Aaron Fencik, and his former wife, Donna Baker Hirt, Beaver, PA. also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews and their families. Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third ST., Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver by his pastor, Reverend Jeffrey A. Arnold. Private interment will take place at the Beaver Cemetery.
