James V. Elia

James V. Elia, 92 of Beaver passed away Friday morning, December 15, 2017 at his home with his wife and daughters at his side. Born December 11, 1925 in Struthers, OH, he was a son of the late Rocco Anthony and Sarah Elia. James was a proud veteran of the US Army having served with Company K, 232nd Infantry, 42nd Division during WW II, where he earned the Bronze Star. He retired from J& L Steel, Aliquippa, and was a bricklayer with the Bricklayers Union, Local #7. He was a lifetime member of the Rochester VFW, was a member of the Rochester Turners and the Monaca American Legion, and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Patricia Grimm Elia, 3 daughters, Vicki (Robert) Borsani, Beaver, Pamela Elia, Cleveland, OH, Patricia Ann (Richard) LoVerde, Haltom City, TX, 2 sisters, Josephine Hazlett, New Brighton, Mary Grace Cartelli, Rochester, and four grandchildren, Chase (Anna Nowaczyk) LoVerde, Eric James (Amanda) Elia, Michael Borsani, and Marlena Wilke. He will also be sadly missed by his two dogs, Bella and Lucy. Preceding him in death besides his parents were 6 brothers, Frank “Rocky”, Vincent, Frank, Joseph, Charles and John Elia. Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver where a service will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 am. Interment with full military rites by the Beaver County Special Unit will follow at the Beaver Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Heartland Hospice staff and to the Beaver County Veterans Association as well as the Butler VA Hospital for the extraordinary care given to James.
