Janet E. Grau

Janet E. Grau, 94, of Beaver, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018.

Born August 21, 1923 in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late William and Elsa Muth Gordon. A 1941 graduate of Schenley High School, Janet worked for J & L Steel during WWII. She went on to work along side her husband in his medical practice as an office manager from 1965 until his death in 1975. Her varied career included 9 years at AAA of Western Pennsylvania, and more than a decade at Enable CNY, Syracuse, NY, where she retired in 1995 as a secretary. In Janet’s spare time, she volunteered at the Beaver County Children’s Home, and was a former member of the Beaver County Medical Auxiliary and Beaver Valley Country Club. She had attended St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Beaver Falls, and Trinity Episcopal Church, Beaver.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John K. Grau, a brother, William J. Gordon, and sister, Yvonne G. Elder.

She will be greatly missed by her three sons, John K. “Pinky” (Mary Beth) Grau, Thomas G. (Cheryl) Grau, and Timothy G. (Susan) Grau; and four grandchildren, Erica L. Grau, Katherine E. Grau-Zavaleta, Andrew J. Grau, and Allison K. Grau.

Friends will be received Monday, April 23, 2018 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver, where a service will be conducted by her pastor, Reverend Carl Neely at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
