Jessie D. “Chewy” Torres, 78, of Midland, passed away at home on August 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born March 3, 1945, in East Liverpool, Ohio Jessie was a son of the late Jose and Irene Vitela Torres and the youngest of 13 children. Jessie was a faithful member of St. Blaise Church, St. Augustine Parish and a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, where he received several awards including Man of the Year. Jessie had previously served as Grand Marshal of Midland 4th of July Parade and fundamental in organizing the Local 1212 Food Bank. After retiring from Crucible Steel (Colt Industries), Midland Jessie became the custodian at St. Blaise Church for over 20 years. Jessie’s favorite activity was being Pap to his grandchildren. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son; Jessie David Torres II, sisters; Irene Trevino, Andrea Torres, Sara Mireles and Julia Maloney, brothers; Ernest, Roselio, Jose, Henry and Richard Torres. Chewy will be sadly missed by his loving wife of nearly 54 years Patricia A Noah Torres, devoted daughter and son in law Jennifer and Shawndale Campbell, Center Twp., Sisters; Cecelia Torres, Louisa Torres and Eleanor (Stanley) Olash, Grandchildren; Jessie, Dante, Brittany and Hannah, Great-granddaughter, Nahlani Mae. Friends will be received Sunday August 13, 2023, from 2 PM – 8 PM in the Schwerha–Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 14, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Blaise Church, St. Augustine Parish, Midland. Interment will follow at the Beaver Cemetery, Beaver.
