Joan Dawson Flaim

Joan Dawson Flaim, 79, of Ohioville, passed away surrounded by her family Monday, May 6, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver.

Born November 20, 1939, she was a daughter of the late James Earl and Ida Mae (Young) Dawson. A resident of Ohioville since birth, Joan devoted herself to her family, never missing her grandchildren’s events and always having fresh baked cookies for them to enjoy. She was a regular at bingo at the Ohioville Fire Department Social Hall and enjoyed crafting angels and playing cards with her friends. Joan was a faithful member of Four Mile Presbyterian Church, Brighton Twp.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank J. Flaim in 2015; a brother, Jim Dawson, and two great-grandchildren, Aron and Reagan Diamond.

She will be greatly missed by two daughters, Patti (Walter) Flenner, and Susan (Donald) Griffith, all of Brighton Twp.; sisters, Margaret “Peggy” (Lou) Hapach, Industry, and Patty (John) Hornbaker, Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren, Alan (Robin) Flenner, Charlotte, NC, Mallori (Joshua) Diamond, Brighton Twp., Bethany (Brendan) Barlow, Powell, OH, and Ryan (Jenny) Burgess, Raleigh, NC; along with great-grandchildren Tenley Burgess, Cecilia and Abram Diamond, and Bodi Barlow.

Friends will be received Friday, May 10, 2019, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Four Mile Presbyterian Church, Brighton Twp. Joan will be laid to rest with Frank at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joan’s name may be made to The Center, 754 Ohio Ave. Midland, PA 15059, or the Ohioville Volunteer Fire Department, 108 Salem Church Rd. Midland, PA 15059.

The family would like to thank Drs. Ferri, Prendergast, and Sestito, and their staff, as well as Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, for the compassionate care given to Joan.
